Google Analytic Filters Guide How to Create

Google Analytic Filters

Filters in Google Analytic are a great way to track the desired data, customized data etc. For example if you want to use the visits, page views and other analytic data separately, you can use filters. Now the question arises what the same we can also do with the help of a advance segment but friends in the advance segment you will also see other pages data and you will have to again refine it, whereas using filters you will see the desired pages only. We can also understand it with the help of another example; let say your client ask you to give you accurate data which does not include visits from the member of your office, client office. In this case you would not be able to refine data, you can use filters for the same.

How to create filters:

Go to the

Analytic setting – Accounts – filter Manager (available at the bottom on the right side)

Now click on Add Filter

Type the filter name and choose the desired filter. You can also create custom filers. For this you need to do little bit of R&D.
Now after creating filter you can apply it to the desired profile, existing profile or you can create a new profile for the existing one.

Note: It would be advisable to create a different profile if you are not very well aware of filters. Or you are a newbie.

Eg: If you create a filter to include results from a specific directory and apply it on the main profile, it means from the now onwards it will show you the selected pages of your website not the entire website. So if you are not very well aware of the filters experiments can be dangerous.
