Orkut SMS: is another great feature started by Google. You can receive new scraps, notifications and enable you to stay connected with your friends by using text massage. If you want to activate this feature, click on mobile tab in setting. Here you can enter your mobile information like
My Carrier: here you will be provided many carrier options like India-Airtel, India-Tata, India-Vodafone, India-Reliance, spice,mtnl,BPL etc.
My Mobile No: Enter your mobile no in the format like: 430 223 4434 and click on next. You will receive a verification code that you will have to enter for verification.
Orkut SMS is a premium service and you will be charged for that service by. For more information click here.
Orkut Chat:Great news for all Google has started chat feature in Orkut, now you can chat with your friends in orkut without switching off to gmail or Gtalk.
You can also allow some specific people to chat with you. For the setting, click on setting link, now click on chat tab. There are various option available like

Best friends
Work
Family
School
Hi
Select your desired category and save the changes. Its done, Enjoy….
